About Ashley Whitson, DPT

Dr. Ashley Whitson, the physical therapist at Network Spine works closely with Dr. Yasha Magyar to create customized treatment plans for patients with various musculoskeletal conditions including but not limited to spinal disorders and chronic pain.

She holds a specialty certification in the treatment of patients with scoliosis from The Schroth-Barcelona Institute and was the first practitioner to be certified when still a doctoral student. In addition, she teaches Core Anatomy to movement specialists and is a certified instructor of the Martha Graham Dance Technique.

Prior to studying physical therapy at Hunter College, she has training in various movement techniques from The Five College Dance Department, the world renown Martha Graham Professional and Teacher Training Programs, The Kinected School for Pilates Mat and Reformer Education. The Postural Restoration Institute (PRI), Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT), Functional Movement Systems (FMS), and StrongFirst (SFG).

She danced professionally for several dance companies including the world renown Martha Graham Dance Company. During her many years as a personal trainer she created fitness and wellness programs for patients at First Health Physical Therapy. She has treated patients from pre and post natal to weekend warriors to professional athletes including dancers, runners, climbers, basketball players, and mixed martial artists.
